UCLA Commit Zach LaVine, Top 50 Prospect, speaks with GiveNGoBasketball

Zach LaVine spoke with GiveNGoBasketball today about why he committed to UCLA and more. This past year he made a huge jump in everyone's prospect rankings. He will make a huge impact at UCLA right away because of everything he brings to each team he plays for. UCLA got a great player and kid on their squad. LaVine will definitely be a well known name when he bursts on to the college scene.

Q: How has your basketball career gone so far?

A: My basketball career has gone well up to this point! It has been very fun.

Q: What is it like to play with another D1 caliber player, in Perrion Callandret?

A: Playing with another D-1 athlete is great, me and P are best friends, so we just push each other.

Q: Who do you look up to when it comes to basketball? Who do you compare yourself to?

A: I look up to Kobe Bryant he's my favorite player ever. I have a lot of his game, but some people compare me to a more athletic Stephen Curry or Monta Ellis.

Q: You had an incredible summer this year and made a huge jump in everyone’s prospect rankings. What did you do to make you one of the best players in the country?

A: I always thought I was one of the best so I just worked hard and when my opportunity knock I grabbed it.

Q: Who was the best player you have played so far and where did you play him?

A: I would have to say Andrew wiggins. I played him at the LeBron camp.

Q: What are your strengths and some things you could work on as a player?

A: I think is my athleticism is one of my strengths. I can create my own shot and I'm really skilled. I need to work on getting stronger. 

Q: What was your list before you committed to UCLA?

A: My list before I committed was UCLA, Washington, Louisville, Arizona and Baylor.

Q: Why did you commit to UCLA?

A: I chose UCLA because it has been my favorite school and I have a lot of family down there.

Q: What do you think of Al Freeman committing to UCLA today after his visit?

A: Al Freeman is a great player. He and I match up a lot at these camps and he is a good friend of mine!

Q: After committing to UCLA have you been recruiting at all for them?

A: I have tried to recruit Devin Williams and Wayne Selden.

Q: What will you bring to UCLA when get there?

A: I will bring a lot of exciting plays, a person who works hard and will help the team win.

Q: What is your goal for you as a player this year and your team at Bothell this year?

A: My goal is to average 30pts or better, become a better point guard and I really just want to win state this year.
