Tyus' Thoughts: Onto AAU Season
By: Tyus Battle
Hey guys its Tyus Battle and I’m back with my fourth player blog for GiveNGoBasketball.com. I’ll be talking about my recruitment, the camps I've attended and more.
The Stephen Curry Select Camp was awesome. I was so excited when my dad told me I received an invite so I was looking forward to this camp more than any other I've been invited to. I love Steph as a player because he is so skilled and was curious to see in person what has helped make him so very good. Camp was challenging and fun. I soaked up as much information as I could daily. My approach was to be the best in everything and compete in every drill or competition, and I know I did that. Steph was great with us and I am even a bigger fan now. It was the best camp I have ever attended.
Khalif has grown a lot, both physically and as a basketball player. My dad thinks he will be as good as anyone at the guard spot as he matures. He is extremely skilled and shoots the ball very, very well. His handle is above average now as well and now that he has grown to nearly 6 ft 1 it makes life a little easier for him. I love him and he is my best friend.
Great draft from an excitement standpoint. I was at UCONN when it was on, so it was cool. I think the Lakers came out of the draft pretty well so I was happy. Also got to witness Shabazz getting drafted while being in the UCONN gym. This was all pretty fun.
I want to win the Peach Jam and I want all of my teammates along with myself to play well. We have the team to do it and I know I am ready to compete.
Awesome feeling to get an offer from Kentucky but, it is also pretty awesome to get offers from the other 22 schools that offered me. I am truly blessed. I don't think about it much because my dad handles the recruiting and I just focus on getting better as much I can. Kentucky is really special offer though.
Derryck and I are friends and our dads are friends. My Dad and I think the world of Derryck and Mr. Thornton and I would like to play with him but my college choice will be based on the best fit for me my family. My dad has veto power but the choice will be mine.
All of my recent visits have gone well. I recently visited NOVA, Michigan, Louisville and Kentucky. My Dad, Brother and I had so much fun during all of them. That is the best thing about the basketball for me, spending time with K and my Dad.
I like to dedicate my next spring and summer efforts to my Nana who past away a year ago in April, Catherine Battle. She was the hardest working person I have ever known and I want to approach every game like she approached her job and her life, with hard work and appreciation for the opportunity.
Thanks for checking out my latest player blog on GiveNGoBasketball.com. Stay tuned for another one sometime in the future.
