June 24, 2013

By: Josh Perkins

Josh Perkins is back with his third player blog for He talks about his decision to transfer to Huntington Prep, the recruitment process, and more. Rob Fulford, Huntington Prep Head Coach, also talks about adding Perkins to his team.

Hey guys, its Josh Perkins with my third blog entry for I have been very busy and wanted to update you guys with what has gone on recently. I decided to transfer from Regis Jesuit (CO) to Huntington Prep (WV). I will get into why I transferred a little later in the blog. My recruitment has picked up a bit; I think my name is getting out there a little more. I think the hard work I have put in has a lot to do with that.

I decided to transfer to Huntington Prep for a couple of reasons. I want to play against better competition on a daily basis and I know they say prep school as almost like your first year at college so I think it will prepare me very well for the next level. I'm looking forward to suiting up for Coach Fulford and the guys. It should be a great experience.

Like I said my recruitment has picked up a little bit. I am starting to get an idea of when I will be cutting down my list. I probably will cut down my list to 7-9 schools after the summer circuit, so probably early August. The schools that are recruiting me the hardest are Gonzaga, UCLA, USC, Kansas, Kentucky, Syracuse, UConn, Baylor, and Minnesota. As of now I don't have a list of schools or any favorites. I am looking for a school that has coaches that lookout for me on and off the court, coaches who are going to push me to my maximum potential. Also a school that has a good education to fall back on.

I recently played in the NBAPA Top 100. It was a great experience because not only is it a great camp for basketball, it teaches you life lessons and really opens up your eyes to reality.

Thank you for reading third blog entry for Stay tuned for another one in the future.

Coach Fulford talks about Josh Perkins also talked to Rob Fulford, Huntington Prep Head Coach, about Josh Perkins and what he will bring to his team. Here is what he has to say about Josh Perkins.

"Josh is the best passing PG I've seen. He has the ability to make everyone on his team better and is a true leader. He has really had a great spring and we are expecting a huge senior year from him. His ability to get his teammates involved has made recruiting a little easier this year! Guys want to play with him," said Coach Rob Fulford.

It is obvious that Perkins has a lot of talent. It is going to be a lot of fun to follow his recruitment as well as the rest of his high school career.
