Jessie's Journal: I'm Back
By: Jessie Govan
What's going on guys! Been a while but I'm back with another blog entry.
My junior season at Wings Academy sadly came to a close and we came up short, losing in the quarterfinals. It was a tough loss, we lost by 1 point, but I know I have to keep working. I still have an AAU season to play and another high school season next year. We played well this season though, finishing 27-4. I averaged 23 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 blocks, so hopefully next year I can improve on those numbers even more.
This year I will remain with the New York Lightning on the EYBL circuit. Our goal this year is to win Peach Jam. We made Peach Jam last year and we have a few returning players that were on that team, so we have sone experience on what it is like to be in that environment. I'm really excited to get back on the EYBL circuit because you get tested every game and I get to see how my game compares to other top bigs in the country.
Recently I just picked up an offer from Georgetown University. Their assistant coach Tavaras Hardy came up to watch me play one game and offered after. Georgetown is a great, winning school and they have a long history of great bigs that have come out of there. To have them offer me is an honor.
I still plan to make my decision senior year, and take the process slow. I want to make the 100% right decision for me to develop as a player and hopefully get to the NBA. I will probably cut down my list at the end of the AAU season, take my visits and go from there.
Well, thanks for reading my blog entry! Stay tuned for more during the AAU season!
