5 Star Prospect Stanley Johnson Discusses How He Plays and His Recruitment
Stanley Johnson is a huge prospect for 2014. He plays for a great high school program with Mater Dei. His AAU Program, Oakland Soldiers may be the best program in the nation right now. He has played for the 2011 USA Fiba Americas U16 Team and the 2012 USA U17 World Championship Team. He has already been All-State first team twice. He played in the Elite 24 recently and list really just goes on and on. He has been getting looks from schools all across the country. I think you can understand why with all these acolades.
As you can imagine Johnson's high school basketball career has gone very well so far. He talked about it, "It's been pretty good. Alot of championships. Playing with a lot of good players and a great coaching staff." Stanley has a lot of talent when it comes to basketball. He talked about things he does well," I'm good at going to the basket, using my body, playing defense, outside shooting, and ball handling." For things he could work on he said," I can improve in every aspect of my game." When asked what makes him different from any other player in the country, he answered, " I am one of the hardest working players you will meet." He touched upon the positions he can play, " I play the two and the three." As for who he can guard, he said, " I can guard the one, two, three, and four." Stanley played in the Elite 24 game which was broadcasted nationally on ESPN 2. The Elite 24 is one of the top high school All American games out there. He spoke about it, " It was great. It was my hometown, which was special for me. You are playing with some great players. Playing at Venice Beach, it was just a great experience.
It is still early but, a lot of teams are going after him. He talked about all teams he is getting recruited by, " Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina, Arizona, USC, UCLA, Syracuse, Texas, and a lot more." As for who offered him he said, " All those schools I mentioned and more." He is going to Arizona on a visit October 19th. He has a very long list of schools. Johnson talked about when he will cut it down and to how many, " I probably will cut it down in four to five months and I'll narrow it down to ten." When asked when he will make his decision by he replied, " I probably will make my decision by the fall of my senior year."
